About FCWPP

The Friends Committee on Washington Public Policy (FCWPP) works to implement Friends’ testimonies through public policy in the state of Washington.

In the centuries-old Quaker tradition of leading the struggle for human and civil rights, FCWPP focuses on issues of social justice that are not sufficiently addressed by other organizations.

Our greatest emphases are on these areas:

  • criminal justice
  • economic justice
  • environmental protection
  • peace

We remain open to new issues of concern to Friends, if they're in keeping with our general policies.

We research and educate Friends and the public at large about these issues, and work with members of the Washington state legislature to help craft legislation that reflects Quaker values. We provide Friends and other supporters throughout the state with timely information on legislative issues, so that they can make their voice heard by their representatives in Olympia.

We stand with the marginalized because we value each and every person.
We hold a sense of the equality for each of us.
We have a deep commitment to equating peace with justice.
We promote compassion and hope that justice can and will be served through our efforts to bring our voice of moral suasion to the public discussion.
